How to Make Your Own Website and Profit From It

1. First of all, decide what kind of site you would like to develop. If it's your first website, it might be worthwhile to read up some of the specifics as there are quite a few variables that should be considered. A content site is likely the easiest, with some affiliate marketing and ads. An online store might be more your speed however, and could easily be started up using eBay.
2. Next up it's time to actually build the website with all the bells and whistles. For this, for those who don't have any experience with the intricacies of web programing and design, it's time to either pick out a nice template online or to hire some outside help. Many templates are included with web-hosting, which I'll get around to next.

3. Pick your web host. There are tons of these online, just pick out an affordable one with plenty of storage and bandwidth, and if you need more later just expand it a bit. Most of these will include plenty of tools and features you can use to design your site. Especially check and see if they have any unique looking templates as these can speed up the development time considerably.
4. Select a domain name for your site with your subject matter in mind, unless of course you would like a domain name that would be highly brand-able, which would be perfectly acceptable as well. Domain names are crucial for traffic from search engines which is certainly no laughing matter for web-masters, so choose wisely.
5. Add content to the site, whether articles or merchandise, and continue to add content until you rank well in the search engines, then... well, keep adding content. On the web, content is king.
6. If you'd like to make money with it, after you have the necessary traffic, simply advertise ad-space or add in Google AdSense. If you'd like to make even more, start promoting affiliate products you've had good experience with.

How to Protect My Earnings

1. Protect your earnings by eliminating the amount of cash you carry on your person at all times. Most bank accounts provide liability for debit and credit card purchases in case your wallet is ever lost or stolen. This is in contrast to lost or stolen cash, which has no liability protection.
2. Take advantage of your employer's direct deposit program, if available. This will allow your paycheck to deposit automatically into the bank account of your choosing. You may then carry a debit card instead of cash.

3. Check to see if your bank account is FDIC insured if you plan to save your wages. This insures your money in case anything happens to your bank. Most FDIC-insured banks insure accounts up to $250,000.
4. Speak with your bank concerning additional coverage, or spread excess money into multiple accounts. This is a better alternative to storing cash in your home or other location, as you will still receive liability coverage for unauthorized transactions and payment of this money if the bank closes.
5. Pay your bills and taxes on time to avoid any wage garnishments, thereby protecting your earnings. Garnishment can cause additional late payments toward other bills, as well as bounced checks or declined purchases. Avoid these additional fees by staying current with your bills and keeping track of your payments.

How to Create Multiple Streams of Income Online

1. Create a niche website. The more specific the topic of the website, the better your chances of earning higher income. Choose a topic that you're knowledgeable and passionate about, and start creating content related to your topic. Monetize your site with ads relevant to your site's topic using Google AdSense or by joining an ad network (see Resources below).
2. Sign up for an email marketing service, such as Constant Contact or iContact, that will help you manage an email mailing list (see Resources below). Create a signup box for your website so that your website visitors can sign up to receive updates from you. Send out a regular newsletter packed with useful information related to your niche topic. You can place ads directly in your newsletter, or promote other people's products for an affiliate commission.

3. Create a blog related to a niche topic. It can be the same topic as your website, or something else that you're interested in. Stay abreast of the most current news and information on your topic and make regular posts to your blog. Help to create a sense of community among your readers by encouraging and responding to comments. Monetize your blog with ads, through an ad network or Google AdSense (see Resources below).
4. Write articles related to topics that interest you and publish them to sites that offer revenue sharing programs, such as Associated Content or eHow (see Resources below). Be sure to follow the guidelines for the specific site that you're writing for, and publish as many articles as you have time to write. The more articles you publish, the more revenue you could potentially earn.
5. Write content for other business websites for a fee. Once you've become a skilled content creator, it won't be hard to get other businesses interested in having you help them create content for their sites, especially if you know how to optimize the content so that it's search engine friendly.
6. Create an ebook and offer it for sale on your website, through your blog or through your mailing list. If you have specialized knowledge in a certain area, your ebook will be filled with valuable information that others would be willing to pay for. You can also allow other website owners to promote your ebook for a percentage of the sale, otherwise known as an affiliate program (see Resources below).

How to Build a Free Complex Website

1. Sign up for a free Web host like Wordpress. Wordpress has the advantage of having the Wordpress content management system preinstalled for you. Over 10 million websites use Wordpress as of July 2010. Even some professional publications, like Anderson Cooper 360's blog, use Wordpress.
2. Change your website's default theme. Your website automatically starts out with a very basic blue design with a few basic widgets on the side of your Web page. There are literally thousands of free themes for you to use. Click 'add new theme' and search for a theme. You can filter searches by color, number of columns and more. It should be very easy to find a theme that fits your website's niche.

3. Install plug-ins. Click 'add plug-in' and search for a plug-in. Plug-ins add new functions to your website--for example, the 'Aksimet' plug-in filters out spam messages from your website. It is up to you to decide what is needed for your site. You are the webmaster.
4. Add content to your site. Click 'add post' or 'add page' to create new posts and Web pages for your site. Common basic pages you should provide are the frequently asked questions (FAQ) page, contact information page and 'about us' page.

How to Find Keywords

1. Search for the right keyword tool. Many are free, while some charge a fee, but most depend on the same source to compile their information: the Google AdWords Keyword Tool. Google has built one of the most informative tools for advertisers and publishers alike, and it's the best place to start looking for keywords. The tool is free to use.
2. Start with topics you know. Enter one or two keywords into the search box at the top of the keyword tool and hit search. You'll receive a list of keywords related to your initial search terms, along with the current competition and the previous month's search volume.

3. Find keywords using Google's search engine, or test the popularity of the keywords you have selected. Visit Google's homepage to use their search engine and type in your keywords, one at a time. Google has a function that 'completes' your possible search term, based on popularity. For example, if the keyword you enter is 'shoes,' Google suggest terms like 'shoes for crews' or 'shoes on sale' in the drop-down box. Because these results are based on popularity, it's a great way to find potential keywords.

How to Make Money Writing for Revenue

1. Consider writing for Triond. Triond accepts online content in any form, and also accepts photographs and audio recordings. There is a short wait while Triond reviews your work before they publish it. After that, they share 50 percent of the earnings on your article.
2. Write for InfoBarrel. This site gives you 75 percent of the Adsense revenue generated by your articles. They accept multiple content forms from their freelance writers, including how-to articles.

3. Sign up with Squidoo. With this site, you can create pages that are called 'lenses' with content, links, photos and more. You get 50 percent of the revenue generated by your lenses.
4. Write for Bukisa. Bukisa is relatively new on the revenue-sharing landscape. You can write articles or upload presentations or videos. Bukisa pays based on page views, not straight ad revenue. The amount of money you get per page view depends on how the site is doing as a whole, so contributing good content counts.
5. Consider signing up with Helium. Helium offers small upfront payments for certain articles, and also offers residual income on top of that. Helium is a very involved site, meaning writers are expected to rate other writers' articles. Your articles also have to rate highly in comparison to other similar articles in order to earn money. It's worth it for a lot of writers, because Helium is a respected site and they also have weekly contests that pay up to $60 per winning article. They also have a marketplace where clients request content, and writers battle it out to write the best pieces to get picked by the client. Some of these clients pay $100 or more per article.
6. Consider writing for Suite101. This freelance writing site has been around for more than a decade, and has a reputation for paying well. Articles must be at least 400 words and written in the third-person. Each article goes live immediately, but is also reviewed, post-publication, by an editor who will help you make your article the best it can be. Suite101 editors help their writers with proper keywords, grammar and everything else so that you earn the most you can from your articles.
7. Set up an account with Associated Content. Like Helium, Associated Content offers small up-front fees for certain original articles, on top of the residual income. The first pieces you submit are likely to be in the queue for a long time, however. Once the editors approve them, your wait time will be decreased. Associated Content ranks particularly high with Google.
8. Write original news articles for Orato. This site, like Suite101, bills itself as an online magazine for freelance writers. They share 20 percent of the revenue from your articles with you.
9. Consider writing for FireHow. This site is similar to eHow, in that it asks for how-to articles. FireHow is another newcomer to the residual income world of freelance writing sites.
10. Write articles for HubPages. HubPages is similar to Squidoo. Articles on HubPages are known as 'hubs,' and can be a combination of links, photos, affiliate links and content. HubPages gives their freelance writers 60 percent of the revenue generated by Adsense.
11. Consider setting up an account with Xomba. This site has two parts: content and social bookmarking. They pay 50 percent of the revenue generated by Adsense. Xomba has a lively community and is another place where freelance writers can earn residual income.

How to Increase Adsense Earnings

1. **Take Google's Optimization Tips to Heart**On your Adsense account page is a tab labeled 'Resources', and under this tab is a link to 'Optimization Tips'. Memorize these!Seriously, Google's own advice is your best starting point for increasing your Adsense income. They cover topics like which color palettes to use; where to place ads on your website; image vs text ads; optimizing for particular sites, like blogs and forums. They also cover use of some of Google's powerful tools, like channels and Google Analytics.Spend a good amount of time here. This is clearly your best starting point for increasing your revenue from Adsense.
2. **Make Maximum Use of Your Content**One of the biggest challenges of building traffic on the web is knowing what you want to say, and finding the best way to say it.But once you've found your voice -- that is, now that you have solid content on the web -- don't keep it all in one place. There are several places where you can post similar (not identical!) material, draw additional traffic, and earn additional Adsense income. For instance, at Google Knol (knol.google.com), you can post informative articles on the topics you know best. Add your own Adsense ads to the Knol, and you have a new source of income. For less scholarly sorts of content, you can post at Xomba.com, and once again, include your Adsense code to generate new income.Posting at both Knol or Xomba is relatively quick and easy, especially when you already have your topic already thought out and ready to go.

3. **Practice Product Placement**I've found it useful to mention product names when possible, as long as they are consistent with the content on my sites. The names act as keywords that offer a triple benefit of increasing traffic, improving search engine rankings, and attracting high paying ads. For instance, I'll say Adwords right here, just to throw in that as a keyword.
4. **Move Your Visitors**Make your viewers move around the page, so that they're sure to come across your ads.You can't point them directly to the ads, of course, as that's not in keeping with Adsense terms of use. But you can certainly direct readers to different parts of your website with phrases like: 'See the Resources section directly below' or similar such wording. As a matter of fact, be sure to see the Resources section directly below, for more useful information. Also be sure to see the More Articles Like This, and Related Articles, elsewhere on this page for more tips on optimizing Adsense earnings.

How to Make Google Find My Website

Getting Your Webpage Found by Google
1. Evaluate your Web pages to make sure the Google index crawler can find you. Verify your page names contain readable words and are hyphenated if they are more than two words. Using numbers or another type of naming system will keep Google from finding your site.
2. Check if your website is found by Google by typing 'site:yourwebsite.com' on the Google homepage. This will tell if your site is being included in Google's search results.

3. Add your URL to Google's 'Add your URL to Google' page.
4. Find other websites you can add your URL link to. Join an organization related to your content and add your link to its member site. By having other websites point to yours, Google can find your website in multiple locations because you are better linked throughout the Internet.
5. Create a Google site map and submit it to your 'Google Webmaster Tools' account page. Site maps are an effective way of listing your site's URLs and submitting them to Google's index. You can create a text-based site map, use Google's site map generator or find many free automatic generators online.
6. Add your site to Google News if it contains news content. Go to the Google page 'News (publishers) Help.'
7. Create a Google business account if you have a commercial website in a specific location. Go to the Google page 'Local Business Center.'

5. Click on the second radio button next to the empty box and type in the name that you desire to see on your account.

How to Identify a Fake Check

1. Look at the edges of the check. Most personal checks have one perforated edge, and some business checks are perforated on all sides. If there are no perforated edges, there's a higher chance of it being a fake check.
2. Check for misspellings or errors, and check the phone number and address against a phone book (an online phone book if the location is far away). Call the phone number and see if the person whose name is on the check answers; if so, ask a few questions to determine if the check is legitimate.

3. Scan the dollar amounts on the check carefully with a magnifying glass for evidence of tampering. Commonly, with fake checks, people carefully change some of the numbers to make a real check valued at a higher amount. Also check the name the check is written to for signs of changes, or someone having written over the original text. Any of these edits can point to a fake check.
4. Call the bank listed on the check and ask it to verify the information. Even if it's a real account, the check could be bad. If possible, go to the bank in question so a teller can verify the check before you hand over the the merchandise you're selling or try to deposit the check.

Making Money With Google Trends

1. Register a blog or website, and monetize your Internet space with Google Adsense. This step is will neither cost you money nor will it be time consuming. In fact, Google offers users free blogs with its Blogger publishing platform, as does Wordpress. If you register for the Google Adsense program, you can arrange for small advertisements to appear on chosen webpages. Any time that visitors click on these ads, you will receive a certain amount of money. (These amounts vary depending on which ad is clicked and how much each advertiser is willing to pay site owners to promote its services.)
2. Refer to constantly updated data on Google Trends. The beauty of Google Trends is that it functions in almost real-time. This service provided by Google seeks to track user interest in common search terms. Thus, if you enter the words 'make money,' you will presented with a line graph that will chart the popularity of this term over the span of several years. However, by comparison, a search for the term 'making money' reveals a lower search volume. Thus, if you are trying to decide which of these terms to include in a blog post, you may want to use 'make money,' since it will probably bring more visitors to your blog and those visitors may decide to click on your Adsense ads.

3. Use Google Trends to assess your competition. In addition to supplying data about common search terms, Google Trends will also give you information about websites. This is valuable to you if you are seeking to make money with Google Trends, since you can discover how your competition is performing. Perhaps the websites you are studying have experienced peaks of traffic in the past, but have declined in popularity in the last few months. Thus, data from this application will help to remove mystery from the websites and allow you to see how they tick.
4. Gauge the value of time in Google Trends data. Time is a vital factor in advertising, and Google Trends is the best place to look if you are trying to assess the popularity of particular keywords over time. When choosing keywords for your writing, choose words with staying power, and not simply words that are popular for a few days before disappearing from the radar of Internet users. Study data and try to infer reasons why certain terms rise and fall in popularity.
5. Examine data on regions, cities or language to learn about the makeup of your audience. When you use keywords in your writing, you are targeting your work to specific readers. Ideally, these readers are English-speaking; however, they may speak other languages depending on the keywords you use. For example, Google Trends states that nearly as many people from Japan are entering term 'iPod' in Google search bars as from the United States. The more you know about your audience, the more you can target this audience with keyword-rich articles.

How to Set Up Google Adsense Ads

1. Apply for Google Adsense. You must first submit your website to Google. On the main page, there is a link for Google Advertising. The link walks you through the forms you need to fill out to submit your site. You will receive an email once your site is approved.
2. Log into your Google Adsense account using your user name and password. Tabs at the top of the page will guide you through different tasks for your Adsense account. Use the tab 'Adsense Setup.'

3. Decide which type of ad you want on your site. There are four choices: Adsense for content, Adsense for Search, Referrals and Adsense for Mobile. These each have a short explanation with them. For most websites, the popular choice is Adsense for Content.
4. Follow the setup questions. It will take you through the options of link or graphics and then color choices. These are all personal preferences of how you would like to have the Google Adsense appear on your page.
5. Copy the HTML code that is provided. It will appear in a box for you to highlight and copy.
6. Edit your source code for your web site. If you use an editor or a site builder, open the page that you would like to have your Google Adsense code appear. Paste the code to the location you want.
7. Publish your webpage. Your Google Adsense will now be displayed.

How to Use Google Adsense for your Site

1. Go to https://www.google.com/adsense/ and register an account. After Google does some verification, you will receive a small bit of javascript coding to place on your website. The whole setup process is very easy to do.
2. Place the coding on your design pages of the website, and ads will begin to appear when people visit your website. The Ads will be related to the visitors location, the content of your site, or other factors.

3. You will begin to earn money based on a per-click or per-impression basis depending on the ad. Google has not released the formula they use to determine how much you will make based on the visitor clicking an advertisement. Therefore, it is unknown what you will earn for the ads. This has been a point of contention with Google Adsense.
4. Also, please note that Google will only pay you once you earn $100. For most smaller websites, this will take a very long time. However, if you choose to close your Adsense account, Google will pay out to the account holder if they have more than $10.
5. To help maximize profits, some website owners have discovered ways to trick Adsense. Please visit the Wikipedia page for ideas on this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AdSense
