How to Create a Domain on Host Gator

1. Log in to your domain registry account for the domain name that you wish to add on to your present Host Gator account. Unlock your domain settings as necessary.
2. Open the DNS settings. Delete the present nameservers and replace them with the nameservers that were sent to you in your Host Gator welcome email.

3. Save your changes and relock the domain.
4. Access your control panel by typing your main domain name followed by /cpanel in any browser (yourdomainname.com/cpanel). The login panel or prompt should appear.
5. Log in to your cPanel using the login and password provided in your Host Gator welcome email. Scroll down to the 'Domains' section once the control panel is loaded.
6. Click on 'Addon Domains.' A panel called 'Create an Addon Domain' will appear; it has five fields.
7. Type in your add-on domain name without the http://www prefix in the top field marked New Domain Name. (for example: yourdomain.com). The panel will automatically fill in the user name and subdirectory (document root) name. These should not be changed.
8. Enter your choice of passwords. Confirm the password by typing it again in the last, rose-colored field on the panel screen.
9. Click on 'Add Domain.' It will take up to 48 hours for your changes to propagate on the Host Gator DNS servers.
