How to Find the Number of Times Each Word Appears in Text HTML





Use Your Word Processor
1. Select the entire text of your document by pressing 'Ctrl' 'A' on your keyboard and copy the document by pressing 'Ctrl' 'C.'
2. Paste the document into word processing software that can count words by pressing 'Ctrl' 'C.' You can use Word, or a similar word processing program, to count select words or phrases. You can work with a document in plain text format or one one that displays HTML code.

3. Press 'Ctrl' 'F' to open the 'Find and Replace' function in Word and click the 'Replace' tab. Type the word or phrase you want to count in the 'Find' box. Click 'Replace All' to delete each occurrence of the word or phrase in your document. Review the message displayed that will be similar to: 'Word has completed its search of the document and has made 12 replacements.' The number of replacements is the count of the number of times the word appears in the document.Other word processing programs have similar find and replace tools.
4. Exit the document without saving it so as to preserve the original text rather than saving an updated version with the words you searched deleted. Alternatively, press 'Ctrl' 'Z' to undo the deletions.
Use Online Word or Phrase Counters
5. Select the entire text of your document by pressing 'Ctrl' 'A' on your keyboard and copy the document by pressing 'Ctrl' 'C.'
6. Paste your document using 'Ctrl' 'V' in an online word frequency counter and click 'Submit' to obtain a word count of every term in your document.For example, the word frequency counter produces a list that is similar to this: 124 the, 66 of, 53 in, 49 to, 46 and, 37 a, and so on for all the words in the document. For documents that include HTML code, the codes will be counted as well, such as 32 http and 17 src.
7. Paste your document using 'Ctrl' 'V' in an online phrase frequency counter.
8. Set the phrase counter to the phrase length you want to analyze. For example, set the counter to '3' to produce a list of all three-word phrases in the document.
9. Click 'Submit' to obtain a phrase count of your document.For example, a list of three-word phrases would be similar to this: 5 would have been, 4 out of the, 3 you could be, etc.
