How to Make a Cool Website

1. Decide on the layout. How many columns should the pages have? Do you want a header image or would you rather leave the top portion of the site blank? Will there be ads on the page from sites such as Google's Adsense? Will you want a blog or photo gallery? Many website providers (Google, Yahoo, Webs, etc.) use a WYSIWYG ('what you see is what you get') engine. Instead of learning copious amounts of code and how to make tables in HTML, these Web hosts make it so you can visually see what you're changing.
2. Use sites such as Color Combos (see Reference 1) to play around with your color pallet. You can also type 'web color chart' in Google and look at the sites listed there as well. Color is an important component of a website. Some combinations are visually appealing while others could send your visitors running away. You'll notice on these sites that the colors don't have names, but six-digit numbers. These are color codes and what your Web host may ask for when you want to change the colors. For example, the default for white is FFFFFF, and the default for black is 000000. Play with the pallet until you see something you like and write down the numbers of those colors.

3. Brand yourself. Add a logo to your website created either by yourself or a Web designer and place it on the pages of your site. Your visitors will notice the logo and connect it to whatever products or services you offer. Make sure the logo stands out from your color pallet. Branding also has a lot to do with the way your writing comes across the screen. Keep it short, simple and professional.
4. Decide what pages your site will need. Your main page should welcome visitors and customers, explain what you offer and possibly provide an update or two on what the company's doing. In addition to that, do you want a blog? How about a photo gallery? Don't forget to add a 'contact us' page so visitors can reach you with any questions. If this is a personal site, you can add a biography as well as a recent photo.
5. Write up your content in a word processor using its spell checker. Nothing looks worse than typos on a live website. Once they're clear of spelling errors you can add the text to your pages and publish to the Web. Try and avoid publishing your website until it's complete. Visiting an unfinished website can be frustrating, especially if the visitor wants to learn more when that additional information isn't available.

How to Place an Ad on Google

1. Click on the 'Sign Up For Google AdWords' link in the Resources section of this article.
2. Click on the 'Create a New Account' button.

3. Enter your account details, including a valid email address. Choose a password and click 'Create Account.'
4. Select your country of residence, time zone and preferred payment currency from the appropriate drop down menus. Click 'Continue.'
5. Wait for AdWords to send an email message to the address you provided during registration. When this email arrives, verify the address by clicking on the link within the message.
6. A new Web page or browser tab will open, telling you that your email address has been confirmed. Click the link the says 'Click here to continue.'
7. Click 'Create your first campaign.'
8. Enter the details for your campaign (the campaign is the ad or ads you wish to place). Choose a name for the campaign and tell AdWords which countries and regions in which you would like your ad to appear.
9. Confirm that 'All available sites and devices' is selected under the 'Networks, devices and extensions' option. This setting is the default setting and should be changed only by advanced users.
10. Set a daily budget by entering a whole dollar amount in the appropriate text box. Select whether you'd like to pay a set price (bid) when someone clicks on your ad, or whether you'd like AdWords to try to automatically determine the best price (bid) for your ad.
11. Create an ad. Google AdWords ads are made up of: A headline, two lines of text, a display URL (short version) and an actual URL (full version).
12. Select 10-20 keywords that are specifically related to your ad.
13. Click 'Save and Continue to Billing.'
14. Select the country where your billing address is located from the drop down menu and click 'Continue.'
15. Choose your billing method. 'Postpay billing' charges your credit card or bank account once ads are run and clicked on, while 'Prepay billing' charges your credit card and creates an AdWords balance to be used to pay for your ads. There is no particular advantage to either method, so choose the one works best for you and click 'Continue.'
16. Read the Google AdWords Terms and Conditions. If you understand and agree to them, click 'yes, I agree,' and then 'Continue.'
17. Enter your credit card or bank account information, then click 'Save and Activate.' Your AdWords account is now active, and the ad you created will begin running on the network as soon as it is approved.

How to Get Paid to Post Ads for Companies Online

1. Learn to post an effective online ad. Create ad headlines that grab the attention of a target audience. Write straight-forward ad copy that conveys critical points of the product or service you sell and include phone numbers and email addresses at which readers can easily contact you, so you can close sales. Read online ads that you believe are effective and study them to determine why they are effective; incorporate the same techniques in your own ads.
2. Research the types of companies that post ads online and determine which industry for which you will write and post ads first. Consider creating ads for child care, commercial and residential cleaning, real estate, physicians and virtual companies of all industries. Target one industry first to become a master at posting ads for that field, before you move on to the next industry.

3. Familiarize yourself with the websites that customers of your chosen industry use. Customers seeking child care services use specific child care websites; customers of physicians utilize other websites when seeking the services of doctors. Learn how to post ads on these sites by clicking on the links to post ads and look at the fees associated with posting those ads.
4. Talk with some businesses that post online and reach a deal. Look in your local phone directory for companies in your selected industry, call each of these companies and talk with them about how they post their ads. Find out how much time they spend posting these ads and which sites they use. Suggest new sites that you discovered in Step 3 that might be beneficial to them for their ads, tell them you could free up the time they spend posting ads by posting for them and tell them how much it would cost you to post these ads. Determine the price by considering the price of posting the ads, the length of time it would take you to post these ads, how much you expect to be paid to complete the project and what price might fit in your prospective client's budget. Understand that you may have to take a lower price for the first client, so you can reach a deal.
5. Post the ads. Ask the company what they expect the ad to say, use your creativity and the skills you gained in Step 1 to write the ads, submit the ads to the client prior to posting, achieve the client's approval and post the ads by visiting the websites on which you want to post, typing the text approved by the client in the ad submission form fields, clicking Submit and paying the fees for the ad submission.
6. Collect checks for your work. Visit the company for which you are posting ads and ask the owner, manager or accounts payable clerk to write you a check for the services you rendered or provide the company with your name and address so the company may write and mail you a check for the agreed-upon amount.
7. Increase your client base. Talk with more companies that need ads written and repeat Steps 4 through 6.

How to Add Text to a Footer in Joomla

1. Browse to the URL address for your Web hosting control panel. Log in to the control panel with your username and password.
2. Launch 'File Manager,' 'FTP Tool,' File Editor' or other similar application in the web hosting control panel.

3. Navigate to the 'Includes' folder in the root directory of your Joomla-enabled website. Double-click the folder name to view its contents.
4. Scroll down to the 'footer.php' file. Highlight the file name, and then click the 'Edit' or 'Change' button on the file manager tool bar.
5. Scroll down to the point in the 'footer.php' file that begins with the text '//NOTE -- Change this section of text to suit your site needs' or something similar. The exact text shown in the file will depend upon the version of Joomla you are using on your site. Regardless, the text should always start with '//NOTE.'
6. Change the footer text following the '?>' symbol that follows the intro text on the line. Delete the original text or add hyperlinks to make the text more appropriate for your site. For instance, your Joomla 'footer.php' file may contain the text 'Powered by Joomla.' In this case, you can delete the text for a blank footer. Alternatively, change it to something like 'Copyright MySite.com' or any other text you want to display at the bottom of your webpages.
7. Click the 'Save' button on the menu tool bar at the top of the screen. Close the text editor and the control panel. Open your Joomla website to review the changes in the footer text at the bottom of your home page.

How to Track Wordpress Blog Visits

1. Use the WassUp Wordpress plug-in. After installing this free widget on your blog, you can track your visitors in real time. That means that as soon as someone new visits your blog, their statistics will be counted towards your total number of visitors. As well as tracking the number of visits to your Wordpress blog, you can view details like which search terms visitors used to find your blog and even where in the word they are located, all of which can be accessed through your Wordpress dashboard.
2. Install the Wordpress.com Stats widget. With this free plug-in, you can view simple information about your visitor statistics, including the total number of visitors and which pages are most popular with readers. The plug-in presents the data it collects using a small chart in your admin bar if you are using Wordpress version 3.1 or later, meaning you don't have to sift through reams of statistics to find out what you need to know.

3. Set up Google Analytics. To do this, you will need to create a Google Analytics account and then paste your unique code into your blog homepage. Google will then start counting the number of visitors to your blog and you will be able to view statistics such as how long each visitor stayed on your blog, how many pages they looked at and which country or area they are from. Although Google Analytics is free, you will have to log into your account through the Google website to view your data; you can't do this through the Wordpress website.

How to Make Money Using Paid To Surf Sites

1.

Avoid paid to surf scams by carefully selecting programs that are fully operational and ones that disclose their ownership to their members. And make sure they have a good track record of paying their members on time. Some paid to surf sites will have all sorts of flashy banners and 'join now' ads but these features might not even be currently available yet, which means you won't make any money until they become active on the site. So you have to make sure the site is completely operational.Instead of spending time with paid to surf sites, check out the FREE legitimate website in the resources section below. It's more profitable than get paid to surf sites and it can be used to earn a full time or part time income from home. When you go there, fill in the box near the bottom of the page to sign in.
2.

Choose paid to surf sites that have good referral programs in place because it's a good way to increase your earning potential and to also earn passive income. Don't choose a paid to surf sites based only on their referral incentives but it's important if you want to make more money. They should have a good referral tracking system in place, meaning that when someone registers under you, you receive a commission. Try and find get paid to surf programs where you can earn commissions 3-5 levels deep and that pay 10-30% commissions.

3.

If you reside outside of the USA, choose a get paid to surf program that pays people internationally. Most of the programs are based in the United States and some claim to accept members from other countries but then they will have some sort of a disclaimer in small print where it states they do not pay members outside of the states but you're welcome to sign up and 'be the first to benefit from it'. It's best to choose a confident paid to surf program that has no restrictions like this. If you live outside of the states, be sure to read the fine print before you sign up with any paid to surf program, otherwise you might not get paid.
4.

Obviously choose a get paid to surf site that pays decent. The amounts that these sites pay are small but if you're using several of them at the same time, it can start to add up pretty fast. Try to find paid to surf sites that pay at least $.50 per hour and have a good referral program. Most of these sites have a limit of how many hours can be used every month. Try and find ones that allow 50 hours monthly but don't sign up with a paid to surf site that has a limit of less than 25 hours. If you want to make any money doing this, you're going to have to take full advantage of multiple paid to surf sites at the same time. Find out how you will be paid. Some places might only pay by check while others might use Pay Pal.

How to Set Up a Personal Website to Make Money

1. Sign up for web hosting. Examples of major providers include Hostgator and GoDaddy. Web hosts store your website content in order to make it available to Internet users.
2. Create and design your website. It is highly recommended that you install a content management system (CMS). These systems are full-fledged administration and management platforms for websites. Examples include Wordpress and Joomla. You are able to change themes, install plug-ins, and add widgets to your websites with these platforms.

3. Sign up as a publisher for programs like Google Adsense and Amazon Associates. Google Adsense pays a 68 percent royalty to publishers for targeted advertisement clicks. These clicks may pay anywhere from a penny to several dollars, depending on your keywords. Amazon associates pays a 4 to 15 percent commission on every sale generated through an affiliate link. There are several other ways to monetize your website, but it is up to you to decide what works for your audience.
4. Drive traffic to your website. Get the word out via social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. You may also wish to buy traffic in the form of paid advertisements. In order to make money with your website, you need a lot of people visiting it. It is rare to get more than a few dozen clicks on ads out of a thousand unique visitors. Conversions for products are even lower. You need a lot of visitors, the more targeted the better.

How to Increase Website Advertising Revenue

1. Experiment with ad placement and size. Standard advice is to have a large ad placed 'above the fold' where users are likely to see it. This may not work in your situation. Try putting ads in the middle or at the end of your text, moving them from the left side of the page to the right or using different sizes of ads. A simple change could make a big difference.
2. Blend ads with your editorial content. Eyetrack, which studies the way that people view Web pages, found that readers were more likely to look at an ad that blends with the page, rather than one that stands out.

3. Match the offers with your readers. The ads on your site should be for things that would interest the people who come to your site -- toys and diapers for a parenting site, for example, or golf equipment for a golfing site. If you're using a service that chooses ads for you based on you page text, tightly focus the text around the types of ads that you want people to see.
4. Explore alternatives to AdSense. The ease of AdSense has captured the interest of many new Web masters -- you simply paste the code into you site and Google does the rest. This doesn't mean that it's the most profitable, however. You may find better luck using ads that pay you a portion of the sale that you make. Find these companies through sites like Commission Junction, LinkShare or Amazon, which has its own associate program.
5. Increase your website traffic. The more traffic you have, the more likely people are to see your ads and click on them. Higher traffic can also allow you to demand higher prices for direct advertisements. Increase traffic through blogging, social media, improved search engine optimization or advertising on other sites.
6. Track all of your testing results. As you make these changes to your site, it's important to pay attention to which changes are most beneficial. Keep the methods that work and ditch the ones that don't.
