It does help as well, since my articles aren't just targeted to just a handful of search engines. You can't overlook the smaller search engines as well.

A lot of bloggers go to sites and write articles specifically targeted for their blog, and then post a link directly to it. It sure helps to use sites like ehow, hubpages, for example, as backlinks to others sites, or work you've done. If you are a blogger, then you should start considering doing this. Sites like this drive in a lot of traffic, and you can use that traffic to help go to your blog. Or just to other articles that you've written on that particular site, or another one.
