How to Customize Your DS

1. Visit decalgirl.com, gameconsoleskins.com or a local video game retailer such as Play 'N' Trade to find a selection of skins compatible with your DS. Skins offer a degree of protection and are a relatively cheap and effective way of customizing your DS. Apply the skin to the DS like you would a sticker. Make sure that the edges of the skin and the system line up.
2. Design your custom DS system on colorware.com, an electronics customization specialist. ColorWare offers extensive customization, from the system's frame to the stylus--though at the more expensive rate of $99 to customize your current DS or $299 to build one from scratch.

3. Spray your DS with Krylon paint to permanently alter the appearance of the system's exterior. This option is effective, but should only be performed by someone familiar with the process of safely dismantling a Nintendo DS. Remember that altering your system in this manner should be done with caution and will void the warranty.
4. Apply a temporary tattoo to the exterior of your DS by placing the tattoo and holding a damp towel on it for 30 seconds. Hold the freshly placed tattoo under a heat lamp or other source of mild heat to melt it onto the system's shell. The tattoo will adhere to the surface of the system, though not permanently, as it can be easily scrubbed off.
