How to Make Money on YouTube

1. Come up with an idea for a video. YouTube pays each time someone clicks on an ad associated with your video, so your goal is to get as many views as possible since the more times your video is watched, the more ad clicks, and thus money, you can get.
2. Film and edit the video. You must own the video in its entirety, including music, to be eligible for the YouTube Partners program. The video must follow YouTube's Community Guidelines and abide by its Terms of Service.

3. Visit YouTube's Partner Program Web page and click 'Get Started.'
4. Sign in with your YouTube account if requested.
5. Click 'Enable My Account' to enable monetization for your account.
6. Read the YouTube Monetization Agreement and click each check box to indicate that you understand and agree to the terms, then click 'I Accept.' You will be taken to your YouTube Video Manager page.
7. Click 'Upload.'
8. Make sure the Privacy Setting is set to 'Public.' Click 'Select Files from Your Computer.'
9. Use the File Browser window to choose the video file.
10. Enter a title, description and tags (key words) for the video. A good title and description and accurate tags may help your video get views.
11. Click the 'Monetization' tab, then the check box labeled 'Monetize My Video.' Read the message and click 'Got It.'
12. Choose the types of ads you want displayed with your video. You can disable TrueView ads, which are video ads played before your video, and Overlay ads, which pop up during the video. All monetized YouTube videos are accompanied by Display (banner) ads. TrueView and Overlay ads may make more money, but they annoy some viewers.
13. Choose whether to syndicate the content everywhere or only on platforms that show ads. If you choose to make the video available only on platforms that show ads, it may make more money, but doing so may prevent the video from becoming viral instead.
14. Visit YouTube's AdSense Connection Web page. Click the bubble next to 'Use an Existing AdSense Account,' then enter the requested information and click 'Next.'
15. Check your email account associated with your AdSense account. There will be an email from Google. Open it and click the link as instructed. The link will open in a browser window.
16. Click the bubble labeled 'Yes, Allow www.youtube.com to Access My Account' and then click 'Submit Information.'
17. Promote your video on social media and content-sharing sites such as Reddit, Facebook and Twitter.
